Emergency Light Batteries

Emergency light batteries are necessary to ensure the longevity of any form of emergency lighting.

Emergency lighting is handy to have in any scenario where a crisis requires an orderly exit from a building.  Light fixtures like these can save lives, and also make an exit operation flow much more smoothly.  Whether you have a business or a home without such fixtures, installing a few is never a bad idea, so that you can ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.  But for every light, you’re going to need emergency light batteries as well.  They are another necessary component of any organized emergency preparation.

Typically, emergency lights require a battery so that they can be turned on to perform their purpose.  Because one of the main uses of emergency lighting is a power outage, these cannot be tied into the standard grid.  Almost every light fixture requires a battery unit be installed alongside to provide power in any situation.  These emergency light batteries are essential to ensuring safety throughout the area.  Although, there are two main types of batteries for emergency lights that perform this function fairly differently.

The first type of emergency lighting battery is the independent battery unit, which is affixed to the wall, but not tied into any wiring whatsoever.  These are emergency light fixtures that you simply mount, and they are essentially ready to go.  Usually they have some type of sensor, and are more often found accompanying smoke alarms, than independent.  Typically these type of emergency lighting is best reserved for the home, as their use with a smoke alarm makes them compact enough to fit in without becoming an eyesore.  Although these light sources aren’t typically very useful if there is a power outage, there is also less to worry about from stumbling around in an area you know as well as your own home.

The other type are battery operated emergency lights that are tied into the power grid.  This light fixture will employ emergency light batteries that are rigged into the wiring of a building and can use that power source to internally charge themselves.  Then when the signal is interrupted by a power outage or storm, the emergency lighting batteries are guaranteed to be charged, and can also sense the power outage.  Once the electric current stops flowing, the lights turn on, and can light a path to safety so that people can navigate the area with ease.  Such lights typically have to be turned off manually, so that you can ensure power has been successfully restored after a crisis.

You can purchase both types of emergency lights and batteries from any major outlet like Sears or Lowes.  They have a wide variety of emergency lighting that can be used in the home or at a business.  They also have a variety of emergency battery types that either can be purchased with a fixture, or separately.  If you want to make sure to get the best emergency light batteries, shopping independently for them is a good idea.  Online retailers like Amazon.com have a huge selection of the best ones at cheap prices.  Depending upon the size requirements of your fixture, prices can run as low as $15, but also as high as $40.
